Camping
The campgrounds at Loyd Park are well maintained and the park is a nice place to camp. With more than 200 sites there are a wide variety of sites. Some are right on the shore of Joe Pool Lake, some in nicely shaded alcoves of vegetation, and - perhaps not so nice on a hot Texas summer day! - a few sites that are relatively unshaded and out in the open.
Camping Fees and Reservations
Sites fees vary by location and specific amenities. You still need to pay a per vehicle entry fee in addition to the campsite fee if you camp in the park. It is advisable to make reservations, especially on weekends. You can find more information about fees and make online reservations through the Grand Prairie Loyd Park website
Campsite Details
Each site has water, electricity, and a picnic table. Up to eight people and two vehicles are allowed at a campsite. There is also a limit of 2 tents or 1 wheeled camper unit and 1 tent per site. Fire rings are provided at many sites and bundles of firewood can be purchased at the park entrance. Check out time is 2 p.m. and quiet hours begin at 10 p.m. The restrooms have showers with hot water.
Group Campsites
There are 2 group campsite in the park. Each of these sites has 10 campsites that are arranged around a picnic pavilion (as shown in the picture below). The pavilion is a covered concrete pad with picnic tables. The per-night camping fee does not include entry fees to get into the park.

By the way - if you were looking for Lloyd Park you have likely found the correct Texas park. Many folks mistakenly assume the Loyd in the park name is spelled Lloyd .
